Attorney Lori Atkins Drayton, as the head of the firm’s Landlord Tenant Division, focuses her practice presenting large residential landlords and property management companies in all aspects of their business, including lease drafting, fair housing, lease enforcement, non-payment and “for cause” evictions, general guidance and related civil litigation. Attorney Drayton aggressively handles eviction actions based on non-payment of rent, drugs and other illegal conduct, as well as complex material lease violation cases and nuisance actions. She is well-versed in regulations relating to affordable housing as well as various subsidy programs. Attorney Drayton has amassed a noteworthy record of success in mediation and conciliation proceedings and in negotiating favorable out-of-court settlements resolving legal disputes. Recognized equally for her skills as a Trial Attorney, Attorney Drayton has been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers as published in Boston Magazine.
Attorney Drayton works with a team of dedicated Landlord-Tenant attorneys and paralegals. They work closely to always be attentive to client needs, effectively solve immediate legal issues and to create policies and procedures to prevent future problems from arising. Through this team approach, clients obtain superior results through effective and proactive representation while decreasing overall legal fees.
Attorney Drayton often lectures on a range of topics including; residential landlord-tenant law, lead paint, mold litigation, fair housing/reasonable accommodation requirements, bed-bugs and residential evictions. She is currently admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.
Prior to entering private practice, Attorney Drayton served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. She was the sole prosecutor in more than 50 felony and misdemeanor trials in Boston on charges ranging from drug distribution and possession, sexual assaults and violent offenses resulting in serious bodily injury. She also served as the Point Prosecutor for juvenile prosecutions and as Special Prosecutor in charge of prosecuting crimes committed in other counties.
Attorney Drayton is a magna cum laude graduate of Suffolk University in 2001 and a graduate of Suffolk University Law School in 2004. She is an active member of the Institute of Real Estate Management, Massachusetts Bar Association, New Hampshire Bar Association, and Rhode Island Bar Association. She also sits on the Suffolk University Advisory Board.
