Attorney Lori A. Atkins concentrates her practice in the areas of residential and commercial real estate, general civil litigation and criminal defense. She handles complex litigation in Superior, District, and Housing Courts including residential and commercial landlord-tenant law, mold litigation, bed bugs, discrimination and reasonable accommodation claims as well as business and employment disputes. She has amassed a noteworthy record of success in mediation and conciliation proceedings and in negotiating favorable out-of-court settlements resolving legal disputes. Recognized equally for her skills as a Trial Attorney, Attorney Atkins has been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers as published in Boston Magazine. She is currently admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Prior to joining Doherty, Ciechanowski, Dugan & Cannon, Attorney Atkins represented residential and commercial landlords as well as condominium associations in disputes involving premises and general liability claims, cause and drug evictions, property damage and casualty loss matters. Prior to entering private practice, she served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, where she was the sole prosecutor in more than 50 felony and misdemeanor trials. She also served as the Point Prosecutor for juvenile prosecutions and as Special Prosecutor in charge of litigating crimes committed in other counties.
Attorney Atkins is a magna cum laude graduate of Suffolk University in 2001 and a graduate of Suffolk University Law School in 2004. She is an active member of the Institute of Real Estate Management, Rhode Island Bar Association and Massachusetts Bar Association.
